Press Release

44th Annual Traditional Pow Wow!

Please, let’s not forget the past to have a nice future!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – May 5, 2023 – THE ODAWA NATIVE FRIENDSHIP CENTRE (ONFC) announced that its 44th Annual Traditional Pow Wow will be held on May 27 and 28, 2023, at the Canadian Police College (CPC) located at 1 Sandridge Road, Ottawa, ON.

The Indigenous community has long awaited the return of the ONFC Annual Traditional Pow Wow, since the COVID-19 pandemic.  This event marks an exciting time and partnership as we bring the community to gather, celebrate and honour First Nations culture and tradition.

This year, the ONFC is honoured to enter into a partnership with the CPC, who are eager to do their part towards reconciliation. The CPC will be providing the location, logistics and volunteer support for the Pow Wow in a safe space, and will be helping to promote the event to the larger Ottawa Community. “We are very pleased to have entered into this partnership with the Canadian Police College and honoured to have their support and look forward to working together to ensure the success of the 44th Annual Traditional Pow Wow”, said the Pow Wow Committee.

If you would like to learn more about the Pow Wow and the importance of these events for the Indigenous community, please send an email to odawapowwow@odawa.on.ca.
